A teacher and a contractor open a trade school

Quality Training Centers is founded by Leroy Brown, a Las Vegas high school teacher, and Jeff Stewart, owner of Quality Air Conditioning. A teacher who knew how people learn, and a contractor who knew what the field demands — that combination is still the DNA of the school: real education, built for real job sites. The first classroom? A much smaller space at 3139 Westwood Dr — the same address the school calls home today.

Licensed, approved, and certifying technicians

From its earliest years the school is licensed by Nevada's Commission on Post-Secondary Education, approved for the training of veterans, and approved by the U.S. EPA as a technician certification organization under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act — the same approvals we hold today.

Outgrowing the first home

Growing enrollment pushes the school out of its original Westwood space and into a larger campus on S. Valley View Blvd — the first sign that Las Vegas wanted more of what QTC was teaching.

Twenty-two years ago our website made the same commitments it makes now: state-licensed, VA-approved, EPA 608 certification on campus, and hands-on labs with real equipment. The look has changed. The standards haven't.

Thousands of technicians for a city that never stops building

Class after class, QTC graduates go to work for HVAC and electrical contractors across the valley — and for the properties that define Las Vegas: the Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace, and the Wynn. Some go further and start companies of their own.

The school comes home to Westwood

After outgrowing Valley View too, the school comes full circle — back to 3139 Westwood Dr, this time with 16,000+ square feet for the labs that hands-on training demands. Same address where it all started in 1994.

Lonny Snowden steps into the classroom

Lonny had worked for Jeff Stewart's Quality Air Conditioning since April Fool's Day, 1987 — nearly three decades on the contracting side, and no joke — before crossing over to teach at the school Jeff co-founded. A contractor becoming an instructor isn't a career change here; it's the house philosophy in action.

Lonny becomes an owner

Thirty-one years after he started with Jeff's company, Lonny becomes an owner of the school alongside him. From the field, to the classroom, to the front office — the long way, which is the only way anyone gets to the front office here.

Electrical training joins the lineup

QTC adds a full electrical technician program — 12 weeks, NEC code-based, with a dedicated wiring lab — bringing the same hands-on model to the valley's other most in-demand trade.

Chris Roth joins the team — full circle

In January 2026, Chris Roth joins Lonny Snowden as partner — two licensed contractors, both built by the Las Vegas trades, committed to continuing what Jeff and Leroy started. For Chris, it's personal: Leroy Brown, the teacher who co-founded this school in 1994, was his high school teacher. The student Leroy once taught spent the next three decades in the valley as a contractor and an educator — and then came back to the school his teacher built. Contractors teaching contractors, one generation handing the trade to the next. That's the whole point of this place.

The Skills Lab opens — and the sign says it all: AI-Proof

A ribbon cutting for the newest addition to campus: the Skills Lab, a standalone hands-on training facility where students work on the real systems of a real structure. The name over the door is a statement about the whole trade — software can write emails, but it can't braze a line set or wire a panel. These are careers automation can't touch, and this building is where you learn one.

Still training, day and night

More than 10,000 graduates later, new classes still start every 6 weeks, morning, afternoon, and evening — and career services support every graduate for life.

The story isn't finished. New programs are in development, pending approval by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education — and the standard won't change: real equipment, small classes, instructors who worked the trade first.
